Reflection for the Society of St. Matthias
Strength in the Lord
“God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior.”
These words from the prophet Isaiah remind us of the steadfast hope and courage that come from trusting in God. As we face the challenges surrounding our parish, this passage invites us to reflect on the true source of our strength: not in human certainty, but in the unwavering love and faithfulness of God.
The road ahead may feel uncertain. The closure of St. Matthias has left many of us grieving—not just for a building, but for the spiritual home that has nurtured and united us for years. Yet Isaiah’s words call us to confidence and courage. Why? Because God, our savior, is in our midst, empowering us to rise above discouragement.
Our work as the Society of St. Matthias is an act of faith—a testament to our belief that God is at the heart of this community. His grace sustains us, renews us, and gives us the courage to advocate for justice. It allows us to dream of a future where St. Matthias continues to serve as a beacon of faith and love.
Let us hold onto this truth: God is our strength. As we gather, strategize, and work tirelessly, may we draw deeply from the fountain of His salvation, finding joy even amid struggle. With God as our savior, there is no reason to fear, for His plan is greater than we can imagine.
Together, let us move forward with confidence, trusting in the Lord who strengthens and saves us.
